Emma is a Meanjin/Brissy-based music journalist. While pioneering her love for music journalism at the babyfaced age of 16, Emma has worked her way up the scene through the likes of local DIY media outlets such as The Sawce, Alterwave Magazine, and The Stew. Emma has also been lucky enough to create content for label Dirty Hit on numerous occasions, getting to personally know amazing artists such as Pale Waves and Wallice.
When not writing, Emma can be found at the latest gig, stuck in a good book, or perfecting her lizard impression while lapping up the heat in New Farm Park. She is also an avid collector of gig setlists, so don’t be surprised if you catch her making her way towards the barrier at your show.
While typically loyal to her all-encompassing indie music, Emma also enjoys taking a trip through the genre-verse including jazz, DnB, and her absolute favourite, psych rock. Her favourite artists typically include Toro y Moi, Alice Phoebe Lou, and Julia Jacklin.
Emma has always had a passion for writing short stories and reviews and combined this with her undying love for music. Her favourite part of what she does is getting to support her home city and all the amazing sounds that are emerging from Brisbane. She is a huge advocate for representation within the Australian Music Scene.
