Tyler, The Creator has unexpectedly cancelled two headlining performances at major music festivals, Lollapalooza and Outside Lands. This news came as a shock to fans, who had purchased tickets to both festivals to catch the EARFQUAKE artist live.

The alt-rapper broke the news on his socials on Thursday morning (20th June), merely a day after his guest performance at Kendrick Lamar’s The Pop Out: Ken & Friends Show in LA. Tyler performed his own songs, WUSYANAME and EARFQUAKE, and was one of several esteemed guests, including the likes of Steve Lacy, Dr Dre, and Ty Dolla $ign

The GOLF WANG entrepreneur sent the following message out to fans:

“I hate saying this but I have to cancel Lollapalooza and Outside Lands.

“I made a commitment that I can no longer keep, and that bums me out knowing how excited folks were. That is not sexy at all.

“Please please forgive me or call me names when you see me in person. Love.”

While fans are relieved that the rapper had the courtesy to cancel two months in advance, current Lollapalooza ticket holders will be unable to refund their tickets, with the company advertising that all sales are final.

Outside Lands have promised to refund ticket holders in the event that the entire festival is postponed or cancelled. For those who have already bought tickets, Tyler is set to be replaced by Megan Thee Stallion at Lollapalooza and Sabrina Carpenter at Outside Lands.

No reason was given for Tyler pulling out of the August-dated festivals. However, fans are beginning to speculate that the rapper is perhaps behind schedule on a new album.

Fans are also worrying about whether the esteemed Camp Flog Gnaw festival, run by Tyler, the Creator, will also be on the chopping block, waiting for the annual announcement to take place, or lack thereof, in early August.

Last year’s edition of Camp Flog Gnaw contained the likes of Tyler himself, SZA, Dominic Fike, The Hillbillies, and Ice Spice
