Live Review: Sudan Archives unleashes the vivid visual for 'Come Meh Way'

Quick question: can you name something that SUDAN ARCHIVES can't do? No matter what your answer is, we can guarantee it's wrong. This woman can do it all. She's a self taught vocalist/violinist/producer extraordinaire and she's not playing around. Sudan Archives is one to watch, and if her new clip for 'Come Meh Way' doesn't prove it to you, nothing will.

Inspired by Sudanese fiddlers, Sudan Archives grew up in Ohio and began figuring our her instrumental talents at a young age. Gravitating towards the violin, her musical horizon broadened even more when she discovered the style of playing of those in Northeast Africa. "The way they played it was different from classical music," she says, "I resonated with the style, and I was like, 'Maybe I can use this style with electronic music.'"

And that fusion is what has given us the soulful yet banging 'Come Meh Way' and its equally stunning video clip. The track, helmed by little more than percussive claps and dominant violin playing like you've never heard before, serves as the mantra for Sudan Archives. The way she has melted folk, electronic and hip-hop together is unprecedented, and likely won't be matched any time soon. The visual for 'Come Meh Way' is as colourful as the song itself. Very reminiscent of SOLANGE and her music video for 'Losing You' back in 2013, Sudan Archives dances, violins and spreads her ethereal being over various vivid backdrops all over the African nation of Ghana. It's an homage to her roots, her musical influences and very much a symbol of the soul that Sudan Archives charges into every last word she sings.
