Live Review: L'Etranger 'Singletape' Mix For Purple Sneakers On FBi Click

As we take a week off the airwaves (you can hear last week's massive episode featuring Planete and Set Mo as a repeat this week) after BigSound - we've got something pretty special for you to make up for it. A mix from L'ÉTRANGER

L'Étranger, translates to “The Outsider” and relates to Ben Thomas’ musical approaches as an Englishman producing French inspired house music. Whilst his main focus has always been production, his talents are multi-faceted as he's been the lead guitarist with Spectrals and and operates his own label, Thomorrow.

Utitlising his own vocals within his originals, L'Étranger operates differently within a world of house that can easily be dominated by downtempo instrumentals. Speaking on the topic of this, Thomas states "When songwriting I find myself gravitating towards very human topics. I want everyone to be able to relate to my songs, and being single is one of those things everyone can.”

It's not a surprise that this 'Singletape' Mix, released in support of this latest single (aptly titled 'Single'), is full of material from those that influence the L'Étranger project. Legends like DJ Falcon and Lido, who are known to use vocals as a centrepiece are mixed within heaps of live edits, originals, and bootlegs from Thomas himself.
