Everything Phoebe Bridgers does makes us fall more and more in love with her, and 'Kyoto' is no exception. Double points for the green screen clip which was plan B after Bridgers' trip to Japan was cancelled due to the global pandemic. 'Kyoto' also comes with the announcement that there is a new album on the way out in June, so watch this space for more Phoebe on the way!

RICO NASTY - Popstar

Despite this year's consistent and ever-increasing turmoil, there is one thing that remains certain: Rico Nasty is having her moment. 'Popstar' is the latest single from the hip-hop chameleon who seems hellbent on showing everyone just how versatile she really is, and it's another homerun for the rising star.

NINA LAS VEGAS - Impossible (Ft. Thai Chi Rose)

Nina Las Vegas makes her return this week with 'Impossible'. Teaming up with Nadia Rose/Swing Ting collaborator Thai Chi Rose, the track is classic killer Nina, perfectly made for isolation clubbing in your lounge room on a Saturday night. Thai Chi Rose doesn't miss either, delivering so much more than just guest vocals with her energy positively palpable above the Jersey Club influenced production. Nina Las Vegas said of the track that "it's energetic and tough and I am super proud of it," and rightly so! Turn this one up loud!

CHEEKBONE - Displacement

Far North Queensland producer Cheekbone arrived in style just a few weeks ago with the release of his Lonelyspeck featuring single, 'Thorns', and now he's back with another descent into the weird and wonderful with 'Displacement'. This time, Cheekbone instead opts for eerie and otherworldly vocals to elevate his expansive production, making it a full-bodied listen from start to finish.

AEORA - Give It

Purple Sneakers favourite AEORA returns this week with 'Give It'. The first taste of the music she's been working on for the last two years, it's a newly refined vision from Aeora and we can't get enough. Produced by Pip Norman (Troye Sivan, CXLOE, Odette), it's a self-described "big pop banger" and is exactly what we need to let go a little in these uncertain times. The best part about 'Give It' is just how fun it is, so be sure to allow it to wash over you and let it all out - even just for a moment.

BAAUER - Planet's Mad

'Planet's Mad' is one of two brand new Baauer tracks out this week, alongside B-side 'MAGIC'. It's also the titular track for his forthcoming record out in June, and comes with some very fitting visuals for the current climate despite being created about six months ago. The king of collaboration, Baauer has worked hard in recent times making music for others but is now shaking that off in this latest record to give it a "100% Baauer" focus, and 'Planet's Mad' is a very promising first taste indeed. Infusing found sound, rap and modern dance music, it's big and banging and just the right amount of maximalist that we need.

DVNA - Half Past Sober

Rising star DVNA continues her winning streak with 'Half Past Sober', a brand new single that is a slightly more subdued but entirely addictive in its melancholic approach. All about being fucked over by someone, DVNA delivers arguably her best release yet in terms of how brilliant her songwriting is here, and how unafraid she is to really let her vocals shine. It's another slam dunk from the Gold Coast artist.

JËVA - Typhoon

Describing his music as if "Ruel was a K-Pop Star", JËVA arrives in style with his debut single, 'Typhoon'. An undeniable pop bop with a helping of mid-tempo RnB, it's emotional and fun, and about as impressive as first impressions come. All about the crushing reality of unrequited love, JËVA likened his sudden and intense attraction to being swept up in a typhoon, and while that absolutely sucks, we're kind of happy it happened because now we have this song. Silver linings, perhaps?

TEISCHA - silence

Taken from her debut mixtape, momentary, also out this week, Teischa levels up with the release of 'silence'. A captivating, enthralling listen, Teischa takes her future pop foundations and builds a smouldering RnB-infused experience with production similar to James Blake with its rich and meticulous layers that allow Teischa's voice to really shine. Explaining the concept of the mixtape, Teischa said it's "a raw and real insight into my life over the last two years. 2019, especially, was a bit of a smack in the face. I was feeling constantly knocked down, misunderstood, lonely and lost, so I hibernated and made music while dealing with the most challenging personal situations I’ve encountered."

MILAN RING - Are Your Friends Alright?

A very fitting song to end this week's playlist on, Milan Ring's 'Are Your Friends Alright?' couldn't come at a better time. We all miss our mates and the good times we all have together, and it's more important than ever to make sure you let your friends know you still love them and have their backs. Teaming up with Sydney's BLESSED as well as The Social Experiment (Chance The Rapper), Milan Ring continues to show why she is one of the most exciting artists in the country with this latest release.
