Live Review: Woodes announces debut album and shares new single, 'Euphoria'

There's a whole stack of good news for Woodes fans this week with a new single out now, and her debut album on the way.

The ever-enchanting WOODES has made her very welcome return this week with a whole stack of good news for fans. Not only is she back with a new single titled 'Euphoria', she's also announced her long-awaited debut album is on the way and will be out in the world this October.

Titled Crystal BallWoodes' debut album is set to be an "encapsulation of everything Woodes has been envisioning since her debut," and the sonic representation of her complex artistic identity. From her time spent studying at the Victorian College of The Arts to her years spent at a leading modelling agency where she honed in her love of visual aesthetics and fashion, to even her love of gaming being represented with an entire Crystal Ball world being built in Minecraft — this is Woodes firmly claiming her stake as one of the most fully-realised artists in the country.

Kicking off in style, 'Euphoria' is the first taste of what we might be able to expect from this forthcoming album. A fitting title, 'Euphoria' gives you a sense of exactly that with its triumphant, liberating nature as Woodes details the sheer ecstasy of finding and falling in love. Made in collaboration with none other than The Kite String Tangle, it's a total slamdunk of a first single with its shimmering synths, pounding heartbeat-like drums and Woodes' absolutely heavenly vocals. Hitting in all the right spots, 'Euphoria' is about as good as it gets for first impressions and a thrilling sneak peek at what might still be up her mystical sleeves.

The good news doesn't stop there either. Reuben Gore (who built the famous Splendour Minecraft) has been recruited to team Woodes for this release, and will be building a “Crystal Ball village” world on a private Minecraft server which fans can join when the album is released. Free to explore and interact not only with each other but with Woodes herself, this goes one step further for a typical album release and will allow fans to connect and gather in a time when it isn't possible to do in a physical sense.
