Toro y Moi, aka Chaz Bear has today announced his new record, 'MAHAL' is set for release on April 29th, alongside releasing two singles.

Toro y Moi, aka Chaz Bear has today announced his new record, 'MAHAL' is set for release on April 29th. The record acts has his seventh studio record under the Toro y Moi moniker.

The record follows closely from his highly celebrated 2019 'Outer Peace', along with his Grammy nominated, 2020 collaboration 'The Difference' with our very own Flume.

The album is the boldest and most ambitious journey yet from Chaz Bear, as he expands his genre and sound, encompassing psychedelic rock from the 1960s and 70s and 1990s mod-post-rock. 'MAHAL' takes listeners on a chronological journey through genre, as they ride across Bear's deep groove excursions.

"I wanted to make a record that featured more musicians on it than any other record of mine,” he explains. “To have them live on that record feels grounded, bringing a communal perspective to the table.”

Alongside the announcement, he has shared two new singles, 'Postman' and 'Magazine' each arriving with accompanying visuals. 'Postman's video sees Toro and his friends gliding around the San Francisco landscape in his Filipino jeepney, dazed in glorious warm film colourings. The track's driven by its playful vocal delivery and groovy bassline.

'Magazine,' directed by Arlington Lowell, sees Toro and Salami Rose Joe Louis, who supplies vocals on the track, styled gorgeously as they perform the track alongside colourful graphics and lighthearted edits.
