As I sit in the backseat of my friend’s car, the morning sun growing hotter and a dry breeze circulating through the open windows, STILL WOOZY’s newest single ‘Goodie Bag’ plays from my phone through the aux. It’s one of those songs that makes you appreciate the small nuances that most take for granted; like driving down the highway at 100km an hour with the wind whipping hair around your face or the thinning of buildings as you move away from the city into ‘the wilderness’.

Still Woozy’s themes are a little more humanistic though. He seems to be a bit of a romantic, authoring tracks that reminisce moments of hope, longing and heartache. His past (and first) three releases, ‘Vacations’, ‘Cooks’ and ‘Wolfcat’, do well to show this, ‘Goodie Bag’ follows suit. An infectious tune nestled between bursts of well-placed synth effects and harmonies that could persuade summer to last forever; ‘Goodie Bag’ certainly embodies its name. The balance between acoustic and electronic, of which Still Woozy prioritises, cements a honeyed platform for vocals, which are just as soothing, with breaks between filled with catchy guitar riffs. It really is a crooning summer anthem.

Still Woozy, or Sven Gamsky, hails from Oakland, California and, as far as I can tell, stays very close to the writing, mastering and production processes of his music. After all, isn’t that the best way to produce music that aligns with your own vision? What results is an eclectic mix of synth’s and acoustics, providing a looking glass into the colourful mind of someone who prioritises and sees moments that others don’t.

Still Woozy is a very new artist, most of his work released just this year. This is almost unbelievable considering the talent and professionalism that the young artist possesses. We can't wait to see what he does next.
