MOSSY is back, this time with new single and sound, 'Shade'. The track is taken from his highly anticipated, forthcoming debut album. 'Shade' is his first release since his 2017, 'Dumb Terror' and his 2016 self-titled EP. Between the releases, he has taken a step away from his indie routes and beginnings, shifting into a diverse, introspective and personal electronic pop world, a sound an aesthetic that is growing exponentially within Australia's underground scenes. It's the beginning of an exciting new era for MOSSY, and we are totally here for it.

'Shade' toes between a paddling, four to the floor downtempo club beat and gorgeous ambient tones via eerie, omnipresent synths. His vocal line rests perfectly above the melancholic, enigmatic beat, moulding together textures of pop and post-punk elements. The track's post-chorus showcases these elements perfectly, giving just enough space for the beat to glow, and Mossy's vocal to flourish. Alongside the release, MOSSY's provided his audience with captivating video co-directed by MOSSY and his brother Ben Timony. With it, they break the fourth wall of a traditional music video. A bare blue background accompanies Mossy doing his thing between hi-res digital cameras and a retro-nostalgia fuelled hand held camcorder.

On the creation of the track, Mossy stated, “In the 11th hour of the making of ‘Shade’, I realised that the song wasn't doing what I knew it could,"; Timony says. He deleted everything but the vocal, rewrote the chords on a piano and approached everything else from scratch. "When that was finished, I felt like I had cracked the code.”
