MAY-A has released a new indie-pop anthem 'Apricots' that brings stunning sonic elements and bold lyricism to the forefront.

Byron Bay-raised, Sydney-based singer-songwriter MAY-A has released a new indie-pop anthem 'Apricots' that brings a sense of fragility and emotion to the forefront through stunning sonic elements and bold lyricism. Making her debut with her single 'Fools Paradise' in 2019, this newcomer is steadily making her mark in the music industry with a series of personable releases, positioning her as a young artist with blossoming potential.

Bringing glimmer and vibrancy, 'Apricots' incorporates sparkling guitars and rich vocals, that bring a sense of liveliness and warmth to her song. As the song progresses with strumming guitars and bouncing drums, MAY-A brings a strong sense of intimacy through her vocals as they become more soulful and passionate. Through her beautifully wholesome musical delivery, she explores the struggles of coming to terms with your sexuality, identity, and navigating queer relationships. Bringing relatable vulnerabilities to the surface for listeners to connect with, MAY-A raises topics that are pertinent to individuals in their youth and broader society. 'Apricots' is a testament to her ability to evoke emotion through her contrasting soundscapes, telling a story through lively yet moody elements. Despite the serious topics addressed in this song, listeners will be thrust into a feel-good mood that makes you feel buoyant and bright. With our heartstrings pulled, this new tune sees us floating into pure bliss.

Talking about the meaning behind the song MAY-A said, "This song is super important to me because I wrote it around the time that I was coming to terms with my sexuality and realising I had feelings for a girl for the first time. I originally started writing it about a relationship, but as it evolved it became more about my current self talking to my past self...The song is ultimately a letter to my younger self, helping her come to terms with the fact that she is looking for something 'she doesn't even know she wants' and letting her know that that's ok."

'Apricots' is the fourth single from MAY-A,  proving she is an artist to keep your eyes on. Having written since the age of 12, MAY-A has honed her skills over the years which is clearly evident through her polished production, flawless indie-pop sound, and evocative, personable lyricism. With 'Apricots' showcasing her strong musical abilities, she is sure to bring more exceptional music to our ears in the near future. Watch out, there's new indie-pop talent in town and she's bound to make waves anytime soon!
