Live Review: Logic1000 takes on Lapsley's 'Womxn' for a spellbinding new remix

British singer-songwriter and producer Lapsley combines forces with one of Australia's most exciting dance music exports, Logic1000, on 'Womxn'.

British singer-songwriter Holly Låpsley Fletcher, best known by the stage name Låpsley, has a strong head start when it comes to the success of remixes of her work - think DJ Koze’s disco remix of 'Operator', destined for any dance floor hall of fame. On her sophomore and highly acclaimed latest release ‘Through Water’, Låpsley combines forces with one of Australia’s most exciting dance music exports, Logic1000, to provide her unique and memorable spin on ‘Womxn’.

"Before even listening to Låpsley's 'Womxn' I trusted and knew I wanted to be a part of it,” said Logic1000 in a statement about the remix. “I love all of Låpsley's output and so it was an absolute honor to work with such a strong track from a wildly talented womxn."

Logic1000’s deft touch with percussion blends seamlessly with the classical musical background that informs Låpsley’s writing and producing. The UK bass rhythm balances beautifully with Låpsley’s rich, warm vocal tonality and heartfelt lyricism, giving the track distinct purpose and drive fit for not just a dancefloor, but also more introspective listening moments. Most impressively, however, is how the remix complements the original track, which too was given an extra production boost from producer Joy Orbison.

“I was obsessed with Logic1000’s self titled 2019 EP, so for her to be able to remix 'Womxn' was the icing on the cake,” Låpsley added about the remix. “She’s a badass producer and DJ and this remix is a banger.”

It’s a powerful moment to have two exciting, successful female-identifying artists working together on a track that exemplifies the courage and battles all womxn face in every day life — one that hopefully encourages more like-minded collaboration in all facets of the music industry.

'Through Water' and 'Womxn' are available now via XL Recordings/Remote Control Records.
