Live Review: Darkstar & Empress Of team up for 'Reformer'

In competitive worlds such as music, friendships either blossom, or foes haunt you for years to come. In the case Darkstar and Empress Of, they’re friendship blossomed online as they both began to hit it off, eventually leading to a recording session in Darkstar’s London based studio. The result is the magical ‘Reformer.

Darkstar have their intricate, easy listening type vibe well and truly refined. They create a sound that you never, ever get bored listening to, but you always can find something different and fun to keep you ears captivated. Empress Of, above all, has a pretty epic voice to bring to the table. She sure knows how to use it and ‘Reformer’ is no exception.

The whole track started with a beat Darkstar had been working with for a while. The beat went by the name of ‘Fuck Waiting’ and once they handed it over to Empress Of to play around with, the waiting game was sure as hell over when she came back to them with the top line that was to become ‘Reformer’.

This is the beginning of working with notable vocal talents for Darkstar, who’s upcoming EP will apparently be filled with special guests. In the meantime it seems both Empress Of and Darkstar are filled with praises for each other, and have a magical harmony so let’s hope for more from the collaborators.
