Grammy nominated, Mercury Prize and BRIT Award winning artist Arlo Parks has shared her first release of 2022, 'Softly' ahead of Australian tour.

Grammy nominated, Mercury Prize and BRIT Award winning artist Arlo Parks has shared her first release of 2022, releasing new standalone single 'Softly'. The track arrives alongside a Zhang and Knight directed video, which showcases Arlo perform the track in a picture-perfect location that unravels layer by layer, with each stage becoming more surreal and sparse.

The single follows her critically acclaimed and fan adored 2021 record, 'Collapsed In Sunbeams' which she will be touring across Australia in August, performing in Naarm (Melbourne), Meanjin (Brisbane) and Eora (Sydney) in August.

Sonically, the track reflects an upbeat pop inspired instrumental, juxtaposed by Arlo's intense lyrics on a fizzling relationship. It depicts that stage of a relationship where every action, every word, every signal is hanging by a thread, before an inevitable parting of ways.

Arlo shares about the single, "'Softly' is a song about yearning, about how fragile you feel in the dying days of a relationship when you’re still desperately in love.

"The song is about how it feels to brace yourself before the blow of a break up and reminisce about the days where it all felt luminous."
