Live Review: Get pumped for Ribongia's debut album with this exclusive mix

9 March 2018 | 7:49 am | Staff Writer

With his long awaited debut album, 'MAAT', out next week, we've got the king of calypso rhythms, Ribongia, on board for a guest mix this week!

The king of calypso rhythms and erratic, unpredictable jungle rhythms, if there's one thing RIBONGIA can do it's make people dance. His love of percussion and polyrhythms, intertwined with atmospherics and sparkling synths makes for impossibly catchy songs that make you feel good from the inside out. The warmth he captures in his music really transcends into the listener's mind, transporting you to another world where it's completely soundtracked by Ribongia's vibrant music.

2018 marks an important year for the Sydney-via-Florence producer, as his long awaited debut album is set to drop next week. After the huge, worldwide success of his Escapisms EP back in 2016, expectations are pretty high but Ribongia is already delivering with singles like 'Shakti' showing a marked development in his production and songwriting skills, opting for unpredictable and unconventional sounds and styles to create something that's truly unique.

With just a week to go until the release of MAAT, we are very excited indeed to have Ribongia on for another guest mix. He delivered the goods back in 2014, and unsurprisingly he's once again come through with another mix that will get you moving in no time at all. You can listen to it right now below, or listen live to our show every Saturday evening, 5-6pm on 94.5 FM DAB, or on demand at
