Teischa takes us behind the scenes of her cinematic 'Haunt Me' video shoot

14 November 2018 | 2:43 pm | Caitlin Medcalf

Pairing haunting cinematography and beautiful imagery with a track as emotionally charged as 'Haunt Me', you'd be crazy not to think about how TEISCHA's latest video clip had been put together.

The video runs through various clip styles, opening with the simplest - her in a denim jacket walking the mountains. She then moves to a dark room, the red light changing the tone of the clip and matching stride for stride the build up of the track's instrumental and emotional output.

In keeping with track's title, various water-themed scenes capture despair, pain and loneliness through the sheer scale of the camera angles and the chosen colours. Light, shade and symmetry play a huge role in this clip, and the more you watch it, more of its nuances become apparent.

With as many moving parts as it has, we've been given a little sneak peak into the inner workings of the clip's creation from a few clips to some BTS pictures, as well as a few words Teischa had to say on the clip's inception. It's the first time she headed to LA to do something like this, so we're stoked to be hosting these! Read her words below:

"Creating this music video was a big deal to me! I’ve postponed creating visuals for my music being scared they wouldn’t come out the way I wanted and wouldn’t represent the music right. This song, like most of my music, comes from a very raw and personal place and I wanted that to be reflected in the video. By teaming up with my friend Korey to direct this video, it became so much more than I initially thought we could pull off. He took the couple ideas I had thought of and the meaning I have attached to the song and developed a treatment that gave me goosebumps the first time I read through it.

We had a total of 5 different locations and 3 full days of shooting in LA with a crew of only friends and fam. There were so many highlights and hilarious moments from this shoot. One being while shooting the studio performance scene, my boyfriend was in charge of the playback, which is the music playing over the speakers so I can sing along with the song in time. There was one take towards the end of the day, I was getting really into the performance, very in my zone, and his phone starting ringing right on the drop of the last chorus. I think it was one of those moments you had to be there for but it was too good not to share!"
