We Are Warriors Hosts First Event Featuring Ziggy Ramo, Nooky & Triple One

Earlier this year, Yuin rapper and triple j radio host Nooky launched all-encompassing cultural movement and platform, We Are Warriors, dedicated to empowering First Nations youth to succeed by connecting them with Indigenous role models.

Next week, on Saturday the 11th of June, the imprint is hosting its first event, assembling an all-star cast of live acts and DJs to fly the flag at We Are Warriors Fest.

Lending their talents to this momentous event is an all-star community of artists who share the vision Nooky is laying out, including Akala Newman, Dallas Woods, Jade Le Flay, Jayvy, Muggera, Nooky, Roman Jody, Scraps, The Terrys, Triple One, Ziggy Ramo and more special guests. 

All profits from ticket sales will be donated to the WAW movement to support future projects such as workshops with Indigenous youth and supporting Indigenous talent by providing content creation, mentoring, studio time and support.

On the inception of We Are Warriors, Nooky said: “After experiencing racism as a kid, my Mum spoke to me three of the most powerful words I have ever heard – We Are Warriors.

"It instilled a fire inside of me, a sense of pride and this unimaginable desire to be successful and show the world that WE ARE WARRIORS. It gave me the push to defy all of the odds stacked against us.

"This journey has led me to launch a platform to highlight prolific Indigenous excellence across music, fashion, sports and everything in between; a celebration of Blak excellence to empower young people in our community. We deserve to be recognised, we deserve to be heard and we deserve to be celebrated.

"As people. As role models. As warriors."
