The Eighty-Six Is Throwing The Biggest Party A Tram Line Has Ever Thrown This Weekend

Get ready to be immersed in a musical marvel as Melbourne's Northcote to Reservoir tram line is about to transform into one hell of a party zone with The Eighty-Six.

This incredible music festival is set to take over more than 60 venues, spanning across three suburbs, making it a record-breaking event that you don't want to miss.

The marquee event of The Eighty-Six, aptly named Super Saturday, is all set to unleash a 22-hour, venue-based musical celebration like no other.

On Saturday, October 28, this musical extravaganza will feature a huge array of entertainment, including over 220 acts, 50+ record labels at the Independent Music Exchange, 20+ vendors at the 1800 Street Party food-beverage-market-dog-music festival, and even a Howl-O-Ween Dog Show, Parade, and Costume Contest.

What sets this event apart is that it takes place along a tram line – a 22-kilometer strip with more music venues than any other street in Australia, and quite possibly the entire world. And the best part? All of this is free with a Super Saturday registered ticket!

Super Saturday will offer a diverse range of activities and performances that cater to all musical tastes and preferences.

For those interested in vinyl records and the independent music scene, the Independent Music Exchange is a must-visit, with over 50 of Australia's independent record labels connecting directly with fans and followers.

Throughout the day, the 1800 Street Party will host over 20 food and market stalls vendors, alongside a live stage. The Howl-O-Ween Dog Show promises to be a barking good time, with categories, including the coveted Dog/Owner Likeness Prize. Hosting the event is the charismatic Myf Warhurst.

Music lovers will be delighted to know that there will be a live stage outside the Northcote Uniting Church featuring talented artists like Dan Kelly and more. Additionally, The Keys, an all-in-one leisure center and a re-imagined vintage bowling alley, will also feature live music.

For families and the young at heart, DJ Joey Lightbulb's Family Disco offers a fantastic program of activities such as Tinsel Baths, TikTok dance-offs, Giant Connect Four/Jenga, and more. And if that's not enough, there’ll be a multitude of live bands playing across local music venues throughout the event.

The festivities will continue aboard The Eighty-Six, Melbourne's iconic tram line, where Yarra Trams will offer a free shuttle tram experience from 3 pm to 7 pm on Super Saturday.

This tram will be wrapped in The Eighty-Six livery and will be the first Melbourne tram to provide live onboard music programming for a festival.

If you can't make it to the tram line in person, don't worry —The event organisers are also offering access for live crosses and filming onboard The Eighty-Six tram during the live music program.

Some of the scheduled performances include Tarabeat at 3:15 pm, Loose Units at 4:20 pm, Danika at 5:20 pm, and Wylie J at 6:15 pm, meaning you can experience the festival's incredible atmosphere and music right from your screen.

In addition to the tram-based excitement, there will be a wide range of live music along High Street, spanning from folk and country to punk, and a variety of family-friendly acts.
