The Chainsmokers' Drew Taggart Admits He's 'Struggled With Drinking' For His Entire Career
"I've struggled with drinking throughout my career as it's an addiction that’s woven into the environment we exist in."

Drew Taggart, one half of the EDM duo The Chainsmokers, has revealed his struggles with alcoholism via a new social media post.
Sharing a video of himself playing the piano to the duo’s latest track, Self Destruction Mode (featuring bludnymph), Taggart left the following thoughtful, candid caption:
"I've struggled with drinking throughout my career as it's an addiction that’s woven into the environment we exist in,” Taggart wrote.
He added, "This guilt of not being good enough or not being better ironically sends me into a spiral that restarts my bad habit cycle”.
Taggart assured fans that Self Destruction Mode isn’t a “cry for help” in song form, “but more of an embrace or celebration of all that I am.”
He ended the post by writing, “I know that I'm flawed. I know that I am great and so are you. Never forget it.”

Self Destruction Mode was released earlier this month. It contains honest lines about his struggles with the bottle, such as, “I woke up in self-destruction mode / I press go and I do it again / I love my sins, they’re all I know / We got closer than all of my friends.”
Last year, The Chainsmokers shared plans set to make history by becoming the first band to perform in space.
The electro duo responsible for Closer, Don't Hold Me Down and Something Just Like This will launch into space in 2024, and perform inside of a pressurised capsule, positioned some 32km above the Earth.
The once-in-a-lifetime experience will be made possible by a partnership with space tourism company World View. The band shared a statement in response to the extraordinary announcement:
“We have always dreamed of going to space and are stoked to collaborate with World View to have this adventure and experience. We know the views of both Earth and space are going to be incredible and inspiring, and we hope to leverage this flight for creativity on future projects.”
