30 June 2022 | 9:00 am | Staff Writer

Skegss, Thelma Plum, Hermitude (DJs) and more!

More than 20 massive Aussie artists are already set to make their way to the pristine beaches of the Gold Coast for this year’s SPRINGTIME music festival… but the event is saving room for one more act!

To celebrate its debut year, the team at SPRINGTIME Festival has teamed up with the good folks over at triple j and triple j Unearthed to offer one lucky Gold Coast artist or band the chance to perform at Surfers Paradise’s new, 100% FREE music festival this September 2-4.

The lucky winner will score themselves a mainstage slot at SPRINGTIME, performing alongside the likes of Skegss, Thelma Plum, Hermitude (DJs), JK-47, Haiku Hands, Alex The Astronaut, Teen Jesus & The Jean Teases, and heaps more incredible acts.

For artists raring and ready to enter, all they need to do is jump over to triple j Unearthed, upload a song by midnight AEST Sunday 17 July, 2022 and cross their fingers. The lucky SPRINGTIME competition winners will then perform on Friday 2 September at the festival.

All artists from the Gold Coast who have tracks uploaded to triplejunearthed.com during the allotted competition time will be eligible and the winner - who will be picked based on their ability to deliver a stellar live performance suitable for Springtime festival’s audience - will be chosen by a panel of triple j experts.

Held on the first weekend of September (2-4 September), SPRINGTIME’s inaugural year will kickstart the city’s quest to host one of the country's largest free music festivals, with an added promise of placing the spotlight on Australian artists, highlighting local music, local entertainment and local businesses, and celebrating the best parts of the country’s most popular beachside destination.

Spread across multiple free outdoor stages and sideshow partner venues, including a partnership with the Gold Coast Music Awards, SPRINGTIME is the perfect opportunity for punters to explore the many offerings of the Gold Coast, and locals to get reacquainted with the city they live in.

SPRINGTIME Festival, which is shaping up to become one of the best new festivals on along the coastline, is a project that received grant funding from amazing people over at the Australian Government, under the Recovery for Regional Tourism program administered by Austrade; a avenue helping create a massive difference for Australian events in the wake of COVID.
