Snoop Dogg has saved WWE WrestleMania 39 after wrestler Shane McMahon suffered a freak injury in the ring.

In a shocking moment amid his long-awaited return to WWE at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, McMahon appeared to tear his quad during an opening exchange The Miz in an impromptu match.

Luckily, the Doggfather, who was co-hosting the event alongside The Miz, saved the day as he jumped in to improvise while delivering "the People's elbow" to this opponent - a move made famous by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

"This is humiliating!" the announcers said as Snoop finished off Miz by pinning him down before Crip Walking over his battered body in what marked his first win in a WrestleMania match.

Of course, fans understandably went wild over the insane moment, with many taking to Twitter to voice their joy at Snoop's surprise win.

"Snoop Dogg literally doing side missions in his lifetime at this point," one fan joked, while another added, "They HAVE to induct Snoop Dogg into the actual wrestler hall of fame next year now".

Veteran wrestler Triple H later confirmed that McMahon tore his quad during the segment and praised Snoop for his quick thinking in the ring.

"Snoop Dogg put himself on a different playing field for me. I know a lot of guys in the business for a long time who would be like, what do we do?" he said.

Snoop Dogg has made several appearances in WWE in the past.

In 2016, at WrestleMania 32, he accompanied his real-life cousin Mercedes Mone (aka Sasha Banks) to the ring for her triple threat match against Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair.

Despite Snoop's support, Banks was unsuccessful in capturing the WWE Women's Championship as Charlotte Flair emerged as the winner.
