With just 12 days to go until we finally know what Australian youth’s favourite songs of 2023 were, triple j has shared some fun facts ahead of time to get us all extra hyped.

Here’s what we know ahead of hearing triple j’s Hottest 100 of 2023, as voted by you: it’s getting down to the wire. As it stands, just one vote separates two songs in the top five. As to what those two songs are, it’s a mystery.

In addition to the possible rematch of the 2007 Hottest 100, which saw just 13 votes separate the #1 and #2 songs – Knights Of Cydonia by Muse and Straight Lines by Silverchair, respectively – triple j has revealed that one artist who made their Hottest 100 debut in 2022 currently has three songs in the upcoming countdown, and another artist is on their way to smash a massive Hottest 100 record.

According to “the internet’s most accurate predictions” of triple j’s Hottest 100, the website 100 Warm Tunas, just seven votes come between the projected top two songs. And the #1 song has changed since last week.

At the time of writing, the Troye Sivan hit Rush is the predicted top song for triple j’s Hottest 100 of 2023, followed by Not Strong Enough by boygenius. You can check out the predicted Hottest 100 votes here.

Voting in the 2023 triple j Hottest 100 closes on Monday, 22 January, at 5 pm AEDT. Then, voters only need to wait a few more days for the big day, which takes place from noon on Saturday, 27 January.
