Listen Out's 2018 lineup has arrived and no-one was expecting the absolute magnitude of the bill they're giving us in this dumpster fire of a year.
LISTEN OUT has consistently delivered since its inception back in 2013. It has fit nicely into that weird and uncomfortable silence on the festival front between Splendour In The Grass and the slew of summer fests, and has always given us some of the most forward thinking acts in hip-hop and electronic music.
Now, the 2018 lineup has arrived and we're not sure anyone was expecting the absolute magnitude of the bill they're giving us in this dumpster fire of a year.
Headlining the bill is the ultimate hip-hop/electronic/grime trifecta: A$AP ROCKY, SKRILLEX and SKEPTA. Other international hip-hop acts joining the bill include the likes of BROCKHAMPTON, NONAME and LIL SKIES. The electronic sector is packed to the brim with talent as well. CAMELPHAT, SNAKEHIPS and PETIT BISCUIT are crossing the pond to fill our lives with good times and better bass, with homegrown heroes FISHER, ENSCHWAY and POLOSHIRT set to give us just the same.
But the easy highlight of the lineup is the amount of women found on the bill. Almost 50% (10/21) of the acts include at least one woman, and they are absolute legends to say the very least. Including Noname, you also have the funky bounce of KIRA PURU, the tender electronica of GLADES and KLLO, the smooth and sexy vibes of IMBI THE GIRL, the raucous party of CONFIDENCE MAN & HAIKU HANDS, the unashamed bangers of GODLANDS and MADE IN PARIS and the ridiculously infectious FLEXMAMI.
