With the insane real estate prices in Sydney, it seems like playing a game of Monopoly is the closest most people will get to owning property these days.

However, there's a delightful twist in store for Monopoly enthusiasts — a colossal Monopoly-themed indoor park, with a staggering price tag of $20 million and spanning an impressive 1650 square meters, is set to open in Melbourne this year.

Originally scheduled to open its doors on October 21, the grand unveiling has been pushed back to November 15, so you'll have to wait a little longer to pack your bags and head to Melbourne.

This $20 million extravaganza is the second of its kind globally, with the first Monopoly-themed indoor park making its debut in Hong Kong in 2019. However, the Melbourne edition is set to be twice the size of its predecessor, promising an even more immersive Monopoly experience.

Monopoly Dreams Melbourne, situated in Melbourne Central, is set to offer two distinct areas for its guests to explore: Monopoly City and Monopoly Mansion, with the experiences ranging from 60-90 minutes.

“The keys to Monopoly City and Mr. Monopoly’s Mansion are due for handover in September 2023," said Mark Connolly, general manager of Monopoly Dreams Melbourne. "We are excited to be able to officially give Aussies an opening day for the most anticipated attraction of 2023."

In these two zones — which are inspired by the vibrant city of Melbourne and adorned with iconic elements such as trams and street art — visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy a total of 15 unique attractions.

Highlights include a 4D theatre experience and a chance wheel, where lucky punters can win Monopoly money that can be spent at the park's café or retail store.

General admission tickets for Monopoly Dreams Melbourne are now available for just $38.50, so don't miss out on what sounds like will be a whole heap of fun.

Monopoly Dreams will open on Saturday, October 21 at Melbourne Central, Lonsdale Street, Melbourne. Head to the website for tickets and more details.
