Following a monster 2022, alt-pop sensation MAY-A is picking up where she left off, releasing a high energy new single Sweat You Out Of My System which pushes her into an exciting new sonic direction and era.

MAY-A’s 2022 saw her transform from exciting emerging artist to undisputed future superstar. From beginning the year celebrating her spot at #101 on the Hottest 200, to performing and creating tracks alongside The Veronicas, DMA’s, Budjerah and of course Flume with their smash hit and Hottest 100 favourite Say Nothing.

Thematically Sweat You Out My System reflects on the process of removing someone from your System, aligning an old relationship of anysort to a chemical altering, deeply physical and addictive sensation. The process of which can be up, down, tumultuous and intense. Sonically the track reflects this with uptempo guitar riffs, booming percussion and an anthemic hook. MAY-A utilises a new vocal style, with perfectly a balanced, deeply enthused varied performance.

“I’m fascinated with manipulating my voice and getting weirder with visuals,” MAY-A says of her new era.

"I feel drawn to aesthetics from the 70s Sex Pistols era and the early 00s New York scene. If DON’T KISS UR FRIENDS felt like Clairo / Claud / indie-pop-singer, I hope the next project sits in more of an 070 Shake / Remi Wolf / beabadoobee / Role Model / Kevin Abstract world.”

"Sweat You Out My System’ is pretty up-front lyrically, it plays on the idea of being completely addicted to someone... The whole song stays on theme of the feeling of trying to ‘quit’ someone (hence - sweating them out like drugs), because f**k going back!”
