More King Stingray More King Stingray

King Stingray is gearing up for another massive headline tour this winter, with a series of shows that promise to be nothing short of spectacular.

The band has become a household name in the Australian music scene, and their shows are now the stuff of legends.

Formed by lifelong friends Yirrŋa Yunupiŋu (frontman) and Roy Kellaway (guitar) in 2019, and mates Dimathaya Burarrwanga (rhythm guitar, backing vocals and yidaki), Yimila Gurruwiwi (Yidaki), Campbell Messer (bass) and Lewis Stiles (drums), the group blends ancient indigenous melodies with surf, indie and funk influences to create their unique “Yolŋu surf-rock” sound which has captivated the nation.

Propelled by the instant success of their debut track Hey Wanhaka in 2020, and subsequent singles Get Me Out, Milkumana, Camp Dog and Let’s Go, the band soared to unexpected heights in record time.

With a unique sound that blends ancient melodies, earnest harmonies, and rich surf rock hooks with the traditional instruments of bilma (clapsticks) and yidaki (didgeridoo), King Stingray has clocked up an impressive string of achievements in recent months following the release of their much-anticipated debut LP King Stingray, which dropped in August 2022.

Among their recent accolades include whopping five ARIA Award nominations, a win for the Michael Gudinski Breakthrough Artist ARIA, and even a nod from Prime Minister Anthony Albanese who chose Get Me Out as his favourite song of the year.

They also nabbed the top spot in double j's 50 best albums of 2022 list, had four tracks in this year's triple j Hottest 100, and were awarded the prestigious 2022 Australian Music Prize, cementing their status as one of the hottest bands in the country.

The band's commitment to family, friendship, and their Indigenous culture shines through in everything they do, and their live shows are guaranteed to be full of good times and big vibes.

If you're a fan of King Stingray or just love great live music, then you won't want to miss this winter's headline tour.

Ticket presale starts on Thursday, March 30th at 10am AEDT, while General on-sale starts on Friday, March 31st at 10am AEDT - so be sure to sign up for presale access to get your tickets before they sell out.

This promises to be one of the hottest tours of the year, so make sure you're there to witness the magic of King Stingray live in concert.
