Triple j host Jess Perkins has announced that she’s moving on from her role as host of Weekend Arvos as of this coming weekend.

“Some fairly big news - this weekend is my last as host of Weekend Arvos on triple j!” Jess said via Instagram.

“I got a Twitter DM in early 2017 asking if I was interested in doing a weekly segment with Drive. That segment was Text Therapist, then Dog Acts, then Simply The Jest. It lead me to do middawns and fill-ins. I got offered the Weekend Arvos job the same day I got my dog, so it was pretty much the best day of my life.”

“After three years of spending every weekend with you, hearing your mundane Saturday night plans and celebrating your small victories, I’ve decided it’s time to move on and give someone else the absolute pleasure of hosting the best show on triple j (imho)”

She continued, “I’ve worked with the best people, had so many laughs, discovered so much great music, and only fucked up a couple of times (like leaving my mic during the Hottest 100)”

“Tune in this weekend and hang out with me for my final weekend on air 💕”

Jess replaced Bryce Mills on triple j’s Weekend Afternoons back in 2021, with her segments have included Dog Acts and Simply The Jess. She’s alsoi a successful stand-up comedian and has her own podcast, Do Go On.

Upon landing the role, Perkins said: “It’s a dream gig for me and one I never really expected to get the opportunity to do, so I’m over the moon.”

“I’ve had such a great time over the past few years at triple j, doing Mid-Dawns and mucking around with Hobba and Hing on Drive. I feel so lucky to have the chance to be keeping the audience company all weekend.”

It comes following the exit of Triple j's House Party’s Jade Zoe back in August, when she announced the “bittersweet” news that she has chosen to leave her position as host of the radio program after nearly three years.

Just one month earlier, Triple j farewelled its beloved Drive hosts, Hobba & Hing, after three glorious years on the airwaves.
