Vivid LIVE opened with a huge weekend of amazing shows, which is being backed up by an equally as huge couple of days of live music. With a program that’s overflowing with talent, it can be a bit dizzying task trying to map out the perfect weekend; but we’ve got you covered, with five must-see events happening this weekend.

Hermitude
Premiere dance music duo Hermitude are back, performing at the Northern Broadwalk of the Sydney Opera House, launching their new album Mirror Mountain. The duo have been winning over audiences since 2003, crafting beats that are deeply inspired by hip-hop that mould perfectly with funk, dubstep, pop and club music.

They’ve won Australian Music Prizes and received ARIA nominations for their work, including breakthrough fourth album HyperParadise and follow-up Dark Night Sweet Light. After a period of pushing into experimentation with Pollyanarchy in 2019, the duo have unveiled a pair of smashes, St Claire and Promises before the release of their long awaited forthcoming record. Hear it for the first time this Thursday. Tickets HERE.

Astral People’s 10 + 1 Birthday
One of Australia’s most prolific multi-hyphenate music companies, from hosting festivals including OutsideIn, Last Dance NYE, Summer Dance, management and record label Astral People are celebrating a decade of artistic excellence with a pair of unforgettable shows this year at Vivid LIVE.

The crew are bringing a plethora of talent to the Northern Broadwalk, including Grammy nominated, Naarm/Melbourne based Hiatus Kaiyote, Jazz fusionist, London based Yussef Dayes, Coventry rap star JAY1, homegrown iconic rapper Briggs and a whole heap more over two nights. Tickets HERE.

Georgia Maq

Alongside her work as a part of Camp Cope, Maq surprised fans with the release of her solo, electro-pop infused album Pleasure

Maq returns to the Opera House for the first time since her performance with her band for a headline performance in 2019 and the band’s sold-out back to back shows at Vivid LIVE in 2017.  Tickets HERE.

Emerging alongside bands including Total Control, Royal Headache and the RIP Society label, the band have made a strong name for themselves with their raw, punk energy.

Their 2019 record Downer Edn was nominated for an acclaimed, Australian music prize, which was followed by fan favourite most recent record From Squats to Lots: The Agony and XTC of Low Life. Catch them this Friday in the Opera House’s Studio. Tickets HERE
