Odetta Maxwell, who made music under the moniker Pink Wasabi, has passed away aged 25, following a tragic car crash.

News.com.au reports that her car rolled onto bushland on the Port Wakefield Highway, South Australia. Maxwell was rushed to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with serious injuries but passed away yesterday; South Australia Police told the publication.

Her music made waves on triple j Unearthed, with the tracks Killer and Tides receiving airplay in 2019. Her songs have been described as "curious and sparkly," "sweet and carefree," and layered with "a lot of heart".

Odetta's sister, Isobel Vlahiotis, has started a GoFundMe fundraiser for her sister's funeral expenses.

"Our dear angel 'O' has gained her wings as a result of a catastrophic single car crash, and is in heaven with her beloved Nanna, Grandpa and other loved ones," Vlahiotis wrote.

Vlahiotis noted that her sister "lived many lifetimes and experiences in her short 25 years" and proudly "worked hard, loved hard", and fought for what she believed in.

"She held her loved ones close and was the most out going, impressive, intelligent, beautiful and larger than life woman," Vlahiotis added. "We are fundraising for funeral expenses and to assist our parents, who live remotely, to handle and cope with their devastating loss. They have had to rent a hotel in the city to stay close to their daughter in the RAH. Neither have a license and rely on taxis."

She shared that their parents have both been involved in terrible car accidents, resulting in brain injuries. She concluded, "Odetta dedicated much of her time caring for both parents. Her life was challenging juggling caring for her parents and her other commitments, as she was so passionate about all that she did."

The ABC reports that Maxwell was the eleventh person to pass away following a crash on South Australia's roads this year, compared to four losses at this time last year.
