Billy McFarland Is Now Selling Tickets For Fyre Festival II

Convicted felon and Fyre Fest founder Billy McFarland has announced that tickets to Fyre Festival II are now up for sale.

Taking to Instagram, McFarland revealed: “This is a big day because as of right now, Fyre Festival II tickets are officially on sale”.

“We spoke to people as far away as the Middle East and South America, and ultimately, we decided that Fyre Festival II is coming back to the Caribbean. We are targeting Fyre Festival II for the end of next year. In the meantime, we’ll be doing pop-ups and events across the world. Guys, this is your chance to get in. This is everything I’ve been working towards. Let’s fucking go.”

Elsewhere in the video, Billy divulged that the idea came to him in prison while he was in solitary confinement.

“I wrote out this 50-page plan of how it would take this overall interest and demand in Fyre, and how it would take my ability to bring people from around the world together and make the impossible happen, how I would find the best partners in the world to allow me to be me while executing Fyre’s vision to the highest level.”

And while there’s no announced line-up, venue or even a date, McFarland has listed “The First 100” tier tickets available for the price of $499, with subsequent levels listed as selling for up to $7,999 at a future date.

While there’s undoubtedly apprehension over whether this second instalment will meet the same fate as its predecessor, one key figure who won’t be making a return this time around is rapper Ja Rule.

The rapper was famously embroiled in the drama of the festival's debut in 2017 as Billy's co-founder, so it's no real surprise he'd be hesitant to get involved for round two.

"I don't know nothing about it!" the 47-year-old rapper told PEOPLE at TuneCore's 50 Years of Hip Hop event in New York City earlier this year. "I don't know nothing about it. I ain't in it!"

In case you missed the gargantuan sh*tshow that was Fyre Fest (and the subsequent documentary), the event saw attendees pay up to $US12,000 for the Bahamas-based music festival where they were promised a luxury weekend but instead arrived at Exumas to find that the festival site had not been completely built.

Music acts such as blink-182, and Major Lazer were confirmed on the Fyre Fest bill. However, the event was called off on the first day after its acts pulled out following the news.

McFarland went to prison in 2018 after pleading guilty to two counts of wire fraud and was released early last March after he was accused of presenting investors with fake documents that convinced some to contribute more than US$1 million.

McFarland also reportedly budgeted for a $US160,000 yacht for blink-182 (who eventually pulled out of the gig due to concerns about the festival) but did not budget for the festival punters. 

Despite the massive failure, McFarland announced in April he was giving Fyre Festival another shot.

“Fyre Festival II is finally happening. Tell me why you should be invited,” he tweeted on April 10. 

"Going to crush the island version first," McFarland  said, before tagging Elon Musk and adding: "But @elonmusk Fyre 3 definitely needs to be in space."
