The itinerary for this year’s BIGSOUND just exploded with dozens of extra names added to the lineup – more than 50 for the showcase festival, and 27 for the daytime conference.

Among the stack of new acts announced to perform are R&B trailblazer Miiesha, pop-punk duo TOWNS, alt-country stars Adam Newling and Claudia Tripp, rappers Jamaica Moana, Zion Garcia and DEM MOB, indie-pop stalwarts Hannah Brewer and tiffi, pop-rockers Melaleuca, and indie-rockers Bean Magazine.

Speaking exclusively to TheMusic.com.au, Bean Magazine – who also just announced a national tour with The Rubens, and the news that they’ve signed with the Lonely Lands agency – said of their excitement to join the BIGSOUND 2024 lineup: “It’s been a goal of ours for some time to play BIGSOUND, especially coming into this year! Being from Brisbane we have been to many BIGSOUNDs, so to be a part of the lineup is a blessing. We are keen as a bean to be part of the BIGSOUND scene, 10 years on from 2014.”

Other highlights from the expanded bill include Stella Bridie, Private Wives, Hydra Fashion Week, DIVEBAR YOUTH, Mulga Bore Hard Rock, Sunn Luwe, Lottie McLeod and Underlay. They join more than 70 acts announced for BIGSOUND 2024 just last week, with the first announcement boasting Aussie faves like Alex The Astronaut, Dear Seattle, Gretta Ray, Sly Withers and Stand Atlantic, as well as two Peking Duk side-projects: Adam Hyde’s Keli Holiday and Reuben StylesY.O.G.A.

The performing lineup for BIGSOUND 2024 was culled down from more than 1,200 applicants. It’s also the first put together by the festival’s new music programmers, Casey O'Shaughnessy and Katie Rynne.

“It has been such a privilege getting the opportunity to program the BIGSOUND 2024 lineup,” the pair said in a joint statement upon last week’s announcement. “We are blown away by the calibre of artists that applied this year, and we’ve discovered so many amazing new artists in the process. While it was challenging to whittle it down to the final showcasing artists, we are so grateful to the First Nations Advisory Group and the extended Program Advisory Group that we worked with to help us create this year's final lineup.”

Meanwhile, the conference lineup for BIGSOUND 2024 has expanded with the likes of US magnates Adam Lewis (repping Planetary) and Chris Danis (TBA Agency), as well as Jack Saunders (TRIBE and TRIPEL) and Kamran Haq (Download Festival Europe and Live Nation) from the UK, and local legends like Annabelle Herd (ARIA), Amy McNickle (APRA AMCOS and High Score), Andrew Parisi (Sundowner Music), Josh Simmons (Vinyl Group and Vampr) and Anastasia Hronis (a renowned psychologist and author).

It follows the first speaker announcement from May – which featured the likes of Amy Taylor (of Amyl & The Sniffers), Casper Mills (4AD), Dev Sherlock (SXSW) and Korda Marshall (Mushroom Group) – as well as the bonus announcement that R&B icon Kelis would be joining the fray.

BIGSOUND 2024 will run from Tuesday September 3 to Friday 6 in its usual home of Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley precinct. Delegate passes are on sale now, as well as standalone tickets for the music festival – head here for more info on all ticket types.

In an effort to make the festival more accessible to those struggling with the current cost-of-living crisis, the BIGSOUND team are offering discounted tickets to punters aged 25 and under – one-night passes will run just $25 (compared to the standard rate of $44.50), with three-night passes priced at $75.
