Young Franco Breaks Down His Top 5 Festival Bangers

4 January 2023 | 3:31 pm | Parry Tritsiniotis

Ahead of huge festival slots at Heaps Good Adelaide and Falls Festival Fremantle, we got Australia producer extraordinaire Young Franco to break down some of his favourite tracks to spin at festivals.

Young Franco is one of Australia’s most musically gifted producers.

Learning his trade in clubs, Franco has become a force in the genres and pop and dance, leveraging his incredible sound to dominate a range of genres, including hip hop, funk, disco and soul, with one overarching theme, serotonin and smile-inducing bangers. Across his long list of incredible collaborators and solo work, Young Franco is a musical force to be reckoned with, and despite a strong track record already, he is just getting started.

Since breaking onto the scene in 2015, he's recruited an elite alumni of collaborators and remixes, including the likes of Theophilus London, Denzel Curry, Glass Animals, Pell, Jay Prince, Tkay Maidza, amongst other budding legends.

He has soundtracked a range of iconic moments, including the new look Australian Football League and was Emmy Award nominated for his music in an Apple Airpods Campaign. He recently performed his biggest Australian tour to date, performing at theatres across the country as well as gracing some of the biggest festival stages locally and abroad.

He now turns to some of his biggest festival appearances yet, performing at Falls Festival in Fremantle as well as Heaps Good in Adelaide this weekend. You can grab tickets to Falls Festival HERE and Heaps Good HERE

On his selection of tracks, Young Franco stated, "This is a mix of songs I've enjoyed playing lately in my sets. The Duckwrth track was the opener for my Australia run at the start of this year. It's produced by my friend WaveIQ, when I first heard it, I thought, I needed to play it out. It's that perfect sweet spot of rap and house music. Easy to Improve was a track I found a couple of weeks ago from a duo named Joy Anonymous. It's so sick, the sample is so good.

"Tondo has been a staple for a while. It always gets a great reaction, same with Armand Van Helden. I Work For A Livin' is a new one I've been trying to sneak into sets every now and again. It's one of my favs at the moment, I think I need to make an edit of it cus it finishes too soon."

You can check out his selections below.
