Last month, Robert Baxter, Jamaica Moana and Yo•shi were chosen to participate in One Off Traks.

The program is Australia’s first ever annual all-female, trans and non-binary writing camp created in collaboration between four friends, Nazlican Eren and Minori Ueda (of One Day), and Carolina De La Piedra (Elefant Traks) and Jannah Beth (Offbeat Collective/Elefant Traks). To commemorate their time spent in the camp, the artists and Jannah Beth have exclusively shared their experiences with Purple Sneakers – and snapped some fun photos along the way.

One Off Traks’ Class of 2024 secured 25 all-female, trans and non-binary producers, artists and songwriters to partake in songwriting sessions and music industry workshops in Sydney.

The One Off Traks team said about this year’s event, “We're so excited to reveal ONE OFF TRAKS class of 2024!

“We’ve levelled up to be able to invite artists nationwide to join in for four days of writing music and making meaningful connections. These artists are ready to take the step in their music journey, which includes getting to collaborate with world-renowned producers Milan Ring, Lucy Blomkamp and Maribelle Añes!”

ROBERT BAXTER

One of the best parts about the camp was the energy. I really built confidence being surrounded by amazing artists who were all lifting each other up. Such a safe space to create and after three days we each left with six really great demos, I’ve never experienced anything like it. I would do it again in a heartbeat, and I’d recommend it to anyone.

The ONE OFF TRAKS writing camp has a special place in my heart, seeing, working with and having the support of talented womxn. This experience has really opened my eyes to what we could do; it was empowering making music with these people. “Who run the world!”

JANNAH BETH

I am on such a high from the camp, over the past two years we've really learnt a lot about putting together a project like this and have been blown away by the response & impact. I'm motivated not only by the exceptional talent coming through but by my own experiences as a GNC songwriter, I feel it's what has given me the insight into understanding where the gaps are, I'm so passionate & it gives me life to contribute in this way.
