"I wrote that song with a bit of a metal streak in it because even though the EP is predominantly pop, metal plays a huge part in my taste in music."

I, like every teenager my age, was completely obsessed with Short Stack.

I followed them to every QLD show that either my parents or my best friend’s parents would agree to come with us to. I was in high school the first time I saw them live when they opened for Good Charlotte.

Since then, my best friend and I would actually have sleepovers just to stay up all night watching Short Stack TV, which were YouTube vlogs.

Fast forward to last year, I did a 60-second rapid-fire questions interview on Triple J. When asked who I’d seen live the most, my answer was obviously Short Stack.

Crazily enough, the band heard the interview and started following me on Instagram. I thought I might as well try and collab with them, so we reached out to their team to ask if they would be interested and they were! It was so surreal.

We went into a Zoom session and decided that they should feature on a previously released track of mine, YUCK!. I wrote that song with a bit of a metal streak in it because even though the EP is predominantly pop, metal plays a huge part in my taste in music.

I thought this would be the best track to collab with because they put me onto the heavier path.

YUCK! is all about being annoyed by guys at bars, and I think Short Stack brings a whole new meaning and a whole new vibe to the song.

I am so excited for everyone to hear that track as it is such a full-circle moment for me as an artist and as a human.
