Known for her powerful blend of indie, pop and punk, Gold Coast-based singer bella amor has returned with her latest soulful single, does it get boring

Written with Cosmo's Midnight and Asta, and produced by Konstantin Kersting (Tones & I, Jungle Giants), does it get boring is yet another unapologetic anthem from the genre-defying artist.

Finding the balance between her glowing falsettos and punchy hooks, everything bella does is hinged to her infectious positive energy and open-book attitude.

Speaking of the single, bella said: “This song is about someone I met on Tinder and was seeing casually on and off. They always complained about being single and never finding love but they were very self-destructive and knew that."

"They had people lining up at their feet and it made me question if it was boring doing the same old thing but longing for something else. And that's how ‘does it get boring’ was created, out of a genuine curiosity”.

does it get boring arrives not even one year after bella burst onto the scene with her debut single, can’t get laid.

So, to celebrate her latest single does it get boring and her upcoming performance at SPRINGTIME Festival, we had a chat with bella amor to find out what you need to know about the soulful Gold Coast singer.

Give us the story behind your name?

I've been told for the majority of my life that Isabella in Italian means "beautiful", and amore mean love so I just shortened both of those words to create bella amor which roughly translates to "beautiful love".

I am a huge lover of love so the name just fit perfectly.

If your music was a flavour, what would it taste like?

It would definitely tastes like sweet peaches I reckon on a good day and beetroot on a bad day. I love a lot of smooth R&B which fits perfectly into sweet peaches but then I love a bit of angst which comes from the beetroot.

Who are some of your biggest musical influences and how have they impacted your own sound and style?

Matt Corby has been a big influence for the majority of my life and he inspires the lyrical side of my work. I love how he always tells a story and creates a feeling which is all I want to do. Sonically I am addicted to Paramore so I think that's where the angstier side of me comes from.

What’s been the biggest moment in your career so far?

It would probably be supporting the Lime Cordiale boys on the Sydney leg of their tour. That was sooooo epic and their fans are just so welcoming and phenomenal and it was legendary.

What's the most unusual or unexpected source of inspiration you've drawn from when writing a song?

I used to light little candles you put in an oil burner and put them in a circle, turn off the lights and sit in the middle of it and write songs. It's so calming and helps me get into my zone

Can you share a hilarious or cringe-worthy moment from your early days as an artist?

Ummmm well, I was going to name myself something completely different called EMA, which stands for something not so nice. "Eat My A**". Yeah, imagine being stuck with that one. It was a lil joke amongst my friends but I was so deadset on making that my name..

What are the top three tracks or artists you’re vibing on rn?

Good Life by Otis Kane & CLAY (this fking SLAPSSS), Too Good by Rihanna and Drake (this came back into my life recently and I’ve been rinsing it) and Untitled by Knuckle Puck (is just a banging song).

What’s something that fans not might know about you?

I was actually born in Belgium. That's my one cool fact.

If you could only listen to one album for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

Moveys by Slow Pulp or five seconds flat by Lizzy Mcalpine. They both are so slapping and they just bring a sense of peace to my life. I love both of their lyrics for all of the songs. It's real hard to keep my attention on something but these ones have got me for life.

What's in the works for you in 2023?

I’m releasing all the rest of my singles (got to more to go yay slay) and then I’m working on an EP hopefully to be released later this year or early next year, which I am super excited for. there are some amazing songs I’ve got in the vault and I’m so excited to share them.
