A Jurassic World -era film is in the works — and it could be hitting theatres as early as 2025.

According to THR, Breaking away from the familiar faces of Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, and the original Jurassic Park cast of Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern and Sam Neill, the sequel is set to embark on an entirely new storyline, injecting fresh energy into the beloved franchise.

While details about the movie's plot remain tightly under wraps, fans can rest assured that some key figures from the Jurassic World series are back in action. Executive producers Steven Spielberg and Frank Marshall are set to lend their expertise to this exciting project, while screenwriter David Koepp, the mastermind behind the original Jurassic Park (1993) and its sequel, The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997), will be returning to pen the new chapter.

As of now, the project is in its early stages, with no director or cast officially attached.

The news of the sequel comes on the heels of comments made by Colin Trevorrow, co-writer, producer, and director of Jurassic World Dominion.

"I specifically did something different than the other films in order to change the DNA of the franchise," he explained. "The previous five films are plots about dinosaurs. This one is a story about characters in a world in which they coexist with dinosaurs."

"For the franchise to be able to move forward – because it's inherently unfranchisable, there probably should have only been one Jurassic Park – but if we're gonna do it, how can I allow them to tell stories in a world in which dinosaurs exist, as opposed to, here's another reason why we're going to an island?"

Despite the mixed critical reception of Jurassic World Dominion, which made over $1 billion at the worldwide box office in 2022, the anticipation for the upcoming sequel is palpable - so stay tuned!
