Paramount+ has today (Jan. 12) dropped the official trailer for season two of the Halo series, based on the hugely popular gaming franchise.

The new trailer, released ahead of the show's debut on Feb. 8, offers a sneak peek into the upcoming season, giving viewers a taste of the intense battles and gripping storyline we’ll see in the new season.

In the second season, per Paramount+, "Master Chief John-117 (Pablo Schreiber) leads his team of elite Spartans against the alien threat known as the Covenant. In the wake of a shocking event on a desolate planet, John cannot shake the feeling that his war is about to change and risks everything to prove what no one else will believe – that the Covenant is preparing to attack humanity’s greatest stronghold. With the galaxy on the brink, John embarks on a journey to find the key to humankind’s salvation, or its extinction: the Halo."

After a nearly two-year wait since the show's premiere in March 2022, the release of the trailer is a relief for fans who have been eagerly anticipating the continuation of the beloved video game adaptation.

As for what fans can expect this time around, executive producer Justin Falvey has hinted at the expansive possibilities for the show's future, stating, "Talk about world-building — it’s literally the whole universe, so we have a lot of buckets we can explore. Hopefully, we’ll be doing this for some time."

Showrunner David Wiener, known for his work on Brave New World, helms the second season alongside an ensemble cast featuring Natascha McElhone, Jen Taylor, Bokeem Woodbine, Shabana Azmi, Natasha Culzac, Olive Gray, Yerin Ha, Bentley Kalu, Kate Kennedy, Charlie Murphy, Fiona O’Shaughnessy, Danny Sapani, Tylan Bailey, and newcomers Joseph Morgan, Cristina Rodlo, and Christina Bennington.
