In exciting news for Melburnians, Australia's first augmented reality go-kart experience, BattleKart, is coming in February 2024.

The innovative venture, which has already seen success with 23 sites across Europe, is set to bring a real-life racing adventure reminiscent of Mario Kart to 50 McArthur Street, West Footscray.

BattleKart Melbourne is poised to offer an experience that meshes the thrill of go-karting with the fantastical elements of video games. Participants will race in real electric go-karts inside a 3000-square-metre warehouse, which will be transformed into an interactive racecourse through state-of-the-art projection technology.

The experience draws a direct line to the excitement of Mario Kart, as racers navigate a course filled with virtual obstacles and power-ups.

Drivers can collect mystery boxes that bestow various powers, such as speed boosts, missiles to hinder opponents and slippery oil patches, all reminiscent of the iconic Nintendo game. And while BattleKart is not officially associated with the Mario Kart franchise, the influence is unmistakable and adds a layer of nostalgia to the epic experience.

But the fun doesn't stop at racing. BattleKart also offers a range of augmented reality driving games.

This includes a soccer game where players use their karts to move balls on a digitally augmented field, and a real-life version of Snake, challenging players to avoid collisions while extending their virtual tail.

Set to open in February 2024, BattleKart Melbourne is gearing up to be a major attraction for those seeking an adrenaline-pumping, interactive experience.
