Tiësto Pulls Out Of Super Bowl Gig Due To 'Personal Family Emergency'

Dutch DJ, Tiësto, has withdrawn from his scheduled performance at the upcoming Super Bowl in Las Vegas on February 11.

The 2024 Super Bowl was set to mark a historic moment as Tiësto was slated to be the first-ever in-game DJ, delivering a pre-game set and spinning during game breaks.

Tiësto took to Twitter today (Feb. 8) to announce that he would no longer be performing at the major US event, saying: “Me and my team have been preparing something truly special for months, but a personal family emergency is forcing me to return home Sunday morning. It was a tough decision to miss the game, but family always comes first. Thank you to the @NFL for the collaboration and looking forward to working with them to deliver something incredible together in the future!”

Tiësto was also scheduled to perform at the Brooklyn Hangar on February 8 and 9. However, at this stage, it remains uncertain whether these shows will proceed as planned.

Originally intended to entertain the audience during Super Bowl 2024 game breaks, portions of Tiësto's performance were to be featured in the Super Bowl LVIII broadcast on CBS and live-streamed on his social channels. Currently, there is no confirmation on who will replace Tiësto in the lineup.

Las Vegas, the host city for this year's Super Bowl, will still showcase an impressive lineup of DJs, including Zedd, Illenium, and The Chainsmokers, performing in some of the city's prominent clubs over the weekend.

Despite Tiësto's absence, the Super Bowl promises a star-studded musical event. Usher is set to headline the halftime show, with Reba McEntire singing the National Anthem during the pre-game festivities. The event will also feature Post Malone performing America The Beautiful and Andra Day singing Lift Every Voice and Sing.

The NFL has become synonymous with featuring a DJ set before the big game since Super Bowl LIV in Miami in 2020 when DJ Khaled took the stage. Subsequent years saw D-Nice in Tampa Bay, Zedd in Los Angeles and DJ Snake in Phoenix in 2023.
