In a groundbreaking move set to redefine the city's nightlife scene, the former Laruche nightclub site in Fortitude Valley is set to transform into a one-of-a-kind adult playground called Pawn & Co.

The brainchild of experienced club promoters Josh Lefers, Stephen Wools, and Steve Thomas, Pawn & Co is not just a nightclub; it's a pawn shop, bar, entertainment venue, perfumery, nail salon, and corporate event space all rolled into one eccentric experience.

“People like things above alcohol and music, they want an experience and it’s going to be one of the most immersive experiences around,” Lefers said.

The 450-square-meter venue, spanning two levels, will captivate patrons with its diverse offerings.

On the ground floor, a perfumery awaits, allowing visitors to explore and purchase signature scents or indulge in a unique cocktail degustation with perfectly paired perfumes.

For those seeking a little extra flair, a mini automated nail salon promises temporary nail art experiences.

The club will also feature vending machines, games, and an outdoor cocktail garden to further enhance the immersive experience. With two bars, a kitchen offering snack-style bites, and dancefloors hosting a rotating lineup of local and international DJs, Pawn & Co is set to become a hotbed for those seeking entertainment beyond the ordinary.

According to Josh Lefers, the team has scoured the globe for highly unique and in-demand inventory, ranging from the latest gadgets to iconic collectibles such as Elvis Presley's jumpsuit, the inaugural Rolex, and Marilyn Monroe's iconic white dress.

Lefers emphasised that every item would be carefully curated, with some expected to fetch prices as high as $1 million.

“It won’t be bric-a-brac … everything will be really curated,” he said.

In a cheeky twist, Pawn & Co goes all-in on the pawn theme, offering patrons the chance to buy the club itself, albeit at a hefty price. Lefers expressed their vision of becoming the most interesting club globally, offering a space that sparks curiosity and wonder.

“We’re aiming to be the most interesting club in the world – this really fascinating and wonderful space that really opens up people’s curiosity,” Lefers added.

Targeting the corporate market, Pawn & Co aims to provide bespoke experiences for businesses looking to create memorable events for their guests or employees, with the club is expected to open its doors to the public in May.

As the city eagerly anticipates the grand unveiling, Pawn & Co appears poised to leave an indelible mark on the nightlife landscape, offering a blend of entertainment, uniqueness, and quirkiness that is set to make it a must-visit destination in Fortitude Valley.
