31 January 2022 | 2:31 pm | Parry Tritsiniotis

Young Henry's has today declared that on February 3rd the nation should stop and celebrate the legend that is Dylan Alcott, naming the date, Dylan Alfroth day.

Eora/Sydney based brewing company Young Henry's has today declared that on February 3rd the nation should stop and celebrate the legend that is Dylan Alcott, naming the date, Dylan Alfroth day.

The day will proudly celebrate the retired tennis legend and current Australian Of The Year by donating the days and a portion of the month of February's sales proceeds to the Dylan Alcott foundation.

The foundation enriches the lives of young people with disabilities, delivering mentoring, grants, and scholarships for people in Australia; aiming to deliver pathways and inspire the masses to fulfill their dreams.

In music, Dylan assisted to throw the famous Ability Festival alongside Untitled Group. The festival welcomes all guests- regardless of their abilities – to engage with and enjoy live music in the Alexandra Gardens. The festival site is transformed into a fully accessible venue, fitted with elevated viewing platforms, pathways, quiet zones, a designated sensory area, companion ticketing and AUSLAN interpreters to ensure a remarkable experience for all.

Commenting on its unique position in the Australian music scene, Dylan Alcott says, “Ability Fest started as a place to bring friends together to enjoy good quality live music – no matter what your access challenges may be. Today, four years in, we have created an event that sets a new standard in the festival world, and shows others what is possible.”

To mark the day, Young Henry's has commissioned a mural by Jeswri (Jessie Wright) in dedication to Dylan, which will be unveiled at Le Bon Ton, Melbourne on Thursday, February 3, 2022.

Dylan says about the day, "I'm extremely thankful for the support from the team at Young Henrys. Dylan Alfroth day will be one to remember and I can't wait to celebrate Thursday with many Newtowners in hand in my hometown of Melbourne. Cheers guys!”

Oscar McMahon, Young Henry's co-founder also stated, "As we talked and found out more about his plans for Ability Fest and the work he does through the Dylan Alcott Foundation we found out the true nature of the man and the rarest of mindsets that he embodies; use your victories to inspire others, work tirelessly to ensure that the adversity you have faced is not repeated for future generations. If only more of us lived that way.

"Dylan Alfroth Day is both a celebration of what this incredible person has achieved and is a raise of the glass to a brighter future through the work of the Dylan Alcott Foundation.”
